Wendy Davis: Surgically Constructed “Human Barbie Doll”?

Most people — at least those without a plastic surgeon on retainer — do not become more good looking as they age from their late 20s to their early 50s.  Without extreme artificial intervention, even the luckiest among us — those blessed with good genes who exercise prudence toward their physical safety and health (for example, by avoiding guns and alcohol) — can at most aim to delay life’s inevitable physical decline, and come close to maintaining their good looks.  Compare, for example, these “before” and “after” photos of law professor Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit), currently age 52.

Before:

reynoldsfoto

After:

Glenn-Reynolds-courtesy-charliefoxtrotblog.blogspot.com_

Or consider these “before” and “after” photos of President Barack Obama, currently age 51:

Before:

After:

Both men were good looking in their late 20s, and both remain good looking in their early 50s (despite all the guns and alcohol), but no one would suggest they are better looking than when they were younger.

Now consider Texas state Senator Wendy R. Davis, who has recently been in the news being touted (however dubiously) as the Left’s technologically enhancedfeminist superhero.”  She is 50 years old.  Yet, unlike Reynolds and Obama, but like Mac Davis, it appears she gets better looking each day.  If she has not found the Fountain of Youth, at minimum she has found very talented plastic surgeons and image consultants who have readied her for her closeup.

Somehow, during the past two decades she has been transformed from a frumpy, pleasant looking but plain-faced, flat-chested brunette with thick, messy hair, into a buxom blonde with excellent facial features and sleek, long, perfectly coiffed hair, like she stepped straight out of Vogue.

For someone who in the early 1990s was a feminist activist in law school, and who is currently posing as a champion of women’s rights, standing up to men who seek to dictate the way women should live, she seems to have devoted an unusual amount of attention to her physical appearance.

Don’t believe me — believe the photographic evidence.  Senator Davis entered Harvard Law School in 1990 at age 27, the same age President Obama was when he entered (two years earlier).  Here is her photo from the Spring, 1991 yearbook (the same volume in which President Obama’s “before” photos appeared):

Harvard_Law_Yearbook_Spring_1991_Davis_cropped

(Her bio lists her as active in two leading feminist organizations:  the Battered Women’s Advocacy Project and the Women’s Law Association).

Current photos of Senator Davis depict someone who is not just more physically attractive, but who arguably seems younger  than the woman in her yearbook photo, even though that photo was taken 22 years ago. Her transformation is arguably more startling than that of women who have used plastic surgery in an effort to become “Human Barbie Dolls” (see, for example, “before” and “after” photos here). You be the judge:  Wendy Davis, superhero, or superfake “Human Barbie Doll”?

Most people in my area don’t know that scalp therapy shampoos for fast hair growth (obviously with no sulfates, no parabens and no DEA) even exist. Folks now may achieve longer hair and have more alternatives. For sure worth considering.

Whether you’re assessing hair loss, damaged hair, avoiding hair disorders, fast hair growth, hair and scalp health more often than not, almost the same ideas become relevant.

For the most part, you will want to stay away from hair products and treatments that contain chemicals like parabens, DEA and sulfates.

What is good for your hair is healthy for your skin as well.

It goes without saying your content above is spot on for multiple reasons. It stays away from the usual pitfalls and errors most fall into- getting bad alternatives. Thank you so much!

Thru all her augmentations and enhancements missy windy chose to keep her wart.
    .
But she discarded two of her pre-natal children and abandoned another daughter in the pursuit of her career.
    .
We are told, retroactively, that windy even named one of her daughters Tate Eloise before she hired a paid a hired assassin to ‘quiet’ little Tate’s beating heart by injecting it with the same kind of drug that Oklahoma executioners used to kill convicted rapist, torturer and murderer Clayton Lockett.
    .
Perhaps windy keeps her wart as a memento to remind her of the price her babies paid to preserve her political ambitions.
    .
To paraphrase a line from the animated movie ‘Shrek’:
    .
“I know some of YOU may die in MY quest, but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.”
    .
Feministas claim that a human embryo/fetus is just a blob of parasitic tissue comparable to a wart and having it surgically removed is no different than excising a genital wart.
    .
windy preserved her wart and discarded her child. The least she could do is give her wart a name.

    • 3fingerpete  On October 16, 2014 at 9:13 pm

She abandoned her daughter, who at the time was 20 years old and attending college? The same daughter who currently works for the Wendy Davis gubernatorial campaign? The shameless huzzy! Have the church elders been informed?

  • timus dillinger  On January 24, 2014 at 2:48 pm

    meh
not that different, a little makeup and straightened / dyed hair. she should have done this when she was younger.
why not attack her positions on issues instead of going for ad hominem farce?
this is the same line of attack that is leveled at Boehner, who cries when he gets emotional, so can’t be a real man, or at Edwards/Trump, who are both far too concerned with their hair, so can’t be real men. etc. etc.
I know little about Davis, other than that she stood up for abortion in a conservative state. I am not a big fan of abortion (seems very irresponsible of both the father and mother of the fetus). but all I see is that she is spending a little more effort to look good. something most women of a certain age do, she’s not overdoing it at all.
Stick to the issues, if she was dramatically altered you might make the case that it shows a mindset you need to guard against in elected officials; to my mind this doesn’t rise to that level, so YOU just end up looking bad for attacking a person based on physical attributes.

I am 53 but I am on my tenth year active duty from my second mobilization. Between very little gray in my hair, Army workouts daily and eating fairly well, I look like I am in my early forties. Me and Wendy still got it. Suck a pickle conservatives.

  • Freddie G.  On January 22, 2014 at 12:06 am

Wendy runs everyday and works out. My wife had big hair and changed her makeup so she actually looks better in some ways and she is fifty. Maybe Wendy had breast augmentation, so what. She did take the time to send me a very thoughtful handwritten note when I was deployed to Afghanistan. She also fought the ignorant morons who cut the Texas education budget $5 billion. She has more character, sincerity and intelligence in her little pinky than any Republican in TX.

    • Timothy Horrigan  On November 3, 2013 at 6:13 pm

The yearbook picture was taken when she was a married 28 year old housewife who was raising a child while holding down multiple jobs and attending an academically rigorous but culturally conservative college. She also wasn’t a celebrity yet. She probably wouldn’t have much time or energy left over to doll herself up even if she was expected to. And she looks pretty good in her old pictures anyway.

      • Sod Buster  On October 13, 2014 at 3:59 pm

While it may be technically correct that windy was married, it would be hard to argue that she was a wife or mother or housewife when her husband, her daughter and her house were more than a thousand miles away in Texas for the two years it took her to complete law school in Massachusetts.
        .
[windy would probably ‘bitch slap’ you if she knew you demeaned her by calling her a ‘housewife’.]
        .
windy was not drafted and deployed in military service. She CHOSE to leave her husband and child behind and as soon as she had graduated and her sugar-daddy had paid off her college loans she divorced him.
        .
To his credit, her estranged sugar-daddy sued for and was granted custody of their daughter. That judicial ruling should give the even a novice some indication of missy windy’s fitness as a ‘ mother’.
        .
I wonder if the presiding judge was a wife, mother and domestic administrator.

I’m female and have not had to resort to plastic surgery to succeed in my career. Yes, looks do matter…..and when one has to resort to changing one’s looks to get a leg up, one wonders what did they think was wrong with themselves in the first place. Certainly, this woman had the coin to take advantage of plastic surgery as she saw something wrong with the way she looked, something her rivals may not have had. biden much?

  • Instapundit Fan  On July 6, 2013 at 3:34 pm

A recent Instapundit post may hold the answer to why Davis looks younger than she did 22 years ago: maybe she’s a SEX MANIAC! Instapundit links to a recent study that having regular sex can make people look 5 to 7 years younger:
    http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/171953

Instapundit doesn’t apply this to Davis specifically, but in another post about a woman who’s 43 and complains about how old she looks, he advises her that with regular sex she can look 36:
    http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/171954

So maybe Davis ended up looking so young by having WAY more sex than everyone else? Maybe having sex several times a day would be enough to shave 25 years off her appearance, and end up looking younger than she looked as a student. Glad Instapundit’s on top of all this cutting-edge research.

  • rilriia  On July 6, 2013 at 11:07 am

Absolutely read it! C’mon, you know you laughed when you saw it and part of you went “no… no… they didn’t… they couldn’t…. it has no bearing on….” and the rest of you laughed because it was funny. So the politically and socially aware part that tried to deny that the author is using this as a political debate platform joined in the laughter because it realized two words–the only two words to describe this and the platform and position (not to mention how it demeans Republicans, the GOP, and the Tea Party):

    “epic fail”.

  • Dnice  On July 5, 2013 at 5:24 pm

  • Deb M  On July 5, 2013 at 2:58 pm

I, personally, think it’s fine and great that WD is keeping up with the fashion trends. Straight hair is in, and there’s nothing wrong with going blond as you get older, it doesn’t cast shadows on your face that highlight facial lines, or have as big of a contrast as brown does when your roots are growing out. Trust me on this, although I’m currently dark brown myself. It also looks to me like she keeps physically active vs full body lipo.

Also, as for feminism and not coloring hair, no boob jobs, or any other enhancements – I don’t buy it. If you like it, the way it makes you look, then do it. Just like hair and clothing styles. Feminism isn’t about being ‘all natural’, it’s about being able to be fully who you are, and if that means a boob job makes your feel better, so be it.

  • rilriia  On July 5, 2013 at 2:29 pm

loling so hard, I nearly lmao!

Do yourself a favor, go out, educate yourself. Read a book…. Then get a platform. You do nothing but make us laugh–and this was shard all over FB so my friends who #standwithwendy can see it and laugh with me.

Because laughter, as we all know, is much sweeter when shared with friends.

    • realwendydavis  On July 5, 2013 at 4:37 pm

      Glad you enjoyed it.

First, a spelling error corrected since I am a moderator of a pro-women’s group, I often have multiple tabs open and am engaged in multiple tasks. A keyboard that desperately needs replaced doesn’t help. So *shared all over FB.

Secondly, you have chutzpah to reply, I’ll give you that. (No, I’m not Jewish.) What I want to know is where you get off doing this… You support the anti-Davis folks, which means you also support their Christian-only ideology. (Sorry, but you took that on when you signed up.)

So where do you get the right to judge people? It’s against the Christian religion. I can cite a number of quotes on ‘judge not’ and hypocrisy. In fact, to rebut Christian adages (usually taken out of context), I have offered a reply of scriptures to my group. While I’m not Christian, I have read the Bible…

I would have respected you a lot more if you had a point to make–even one I disagreed with. But this … this is garbage. How dare you classify anyone–any woman–as being less than because she is attractive and socially/politically active?

You just gave a nod to putting women back into the kitchen with rollers in their hair and acting as brood mares. I would like to know, Sir (most likely) or Ma’am (which would be tragic to say the least), how you can possibly justify yourself or your actions….

Oh and while I’m dying my hair purple, my FB is listed as a permalink…. Feel free to bash me while you’re at it. I’m beautiful, I’m 35 and still get carded, I’m too poor to afford plastic surgery (and wouldn’t do it anyway because it’s against my belief system), and I’m politically active. Oh, and just in case you want to, let me inform you now (so you don’t look quite so stupid) that the lighting in my room is terrible (see ‘part of the 99%’ comment) and my hair is red–for the moment.

Obviously, you’ve never seen what top supermodels REALLY look like, without all the makeup, hairspray, and PhotoShop. Or, you’ve never seen the show about the ugly women who had all kinds of help done to bring out their true beauty.

If you did/had, you’d know that Ms. Davis has good bone structure and nice skin (as evidenced in her yearbook photo), which is all easily and aesthetically enhanceable, with the right application of makeup, frizz-taming hair products, a straightening iron, a good colorist, and a better wardrobe.

She also had good teeth to begin with, but being in the public eye, she probably had veneers applied as do multitudes of celebrities and public figures. I see no “witchcraft” here, just a highlighting of her good points, which ANY smart woman does. You must be male, to be so easily fooled by makeup and hair color. (Hee hee. Our evil plan is working, Queen Maybelline.)

Eh.It’s a lot of hot air from TX demo-feminists.I grew up in TX and there is NOT a large feminist presence there, nor do most WOMEN in TX identify with those sorts of labels. Wendy Davis is trying to play NY/LA/SF feminist politics in TX and it is obviously a rigged game. Most of the women championing Wendy Davis are feminists or dems who have never been to TX but believe all the media stereotypes about the state. The “mob” was gathered on CL and social media then bussed in – if you ask even blue leaning women in TX they will tell you that they are smart enough to know b.s. when they see it.

      • James Hoyt  On August 7, 2013 at 2:29 pm

I live in Austin and yes there is a strong civil rights presence. (civil rights include women rights aka feminists).

You all are just scared with the rising Hispanic population in Texas that might switch the state from red to blue.. which would mean that a Republican leader would never ever be elected in the US.. which would be great.

Now if democrats could only learn how to be progressive and not corporate shills like republicans, then we will actually get somewhere.

If you’re going to make a big deal over dark curly hair on the head of a 20 year old vs. smoothed tinted-blonde hair 30 years later, let’s take a look at what right wing icon Sarah Palin has looked like over the past 30 years:

  • Dixiecup  On July 3, 2013 at 11:59 am

So she colored her hair, wears makeup, and got a flat iron? Who cares? She’s fighting for the rights of women to make their own choices about their bodies. To me, that says what she does to her body is nobody else’s business. It certainly hasn’t hindered her mind, so who cares.

Lol, is that all you’ve got? So she’s beautiful and has a brain–not mutually exclusive, you know. You need to listen to what she stands for and not get distracted by her looks. And for the record, not that it matters, a lot of people get better looking with age…

  • Dick Gozinya  On July 3, 2013 at 10:33 am

  • Dick Gozinya  On July 3, 2013 at 10:30 am

Lulz. When (2) an entire blog devoted to discrediting you has (2) a SINGLE post on it commenting about your current hairstyle — you’re doin’ it right, Wendy Davis.

  • Granny C  On July 3, 2013 at 10:21 am

It’s hard to believe that in this day and age, that you would try to discredit a woman because of her looks. Maybe we haven’t come such a long way, baby.

Sen. David has changed her hair color and doesn’t appear to have aged to your satisfaction, so you try to negate her stand concerning a woman’s right to make her own decisions regarding her reproductive health.

How 18th century of you. Go crawl back under your rock.

  • shiv  On July 3, 2013 at 9:06 am

If Ronald Reagan could dye his hair . . . well, just sayin’. Three guesses on who is the ghost writer behind this juvenile crush on Wendy Davis: 1. Sarah Palin, nah, the writing contains full sentences; 2. Rick Perry, I suppose is possible, and 3. oh, can’t remember.

  • roowaz  On July 3, 2013 at 6:12 am

But the whole point of feminism isn’t to not be beautiful.
If Sen. Davis wants to wear makeup and straighten her hair, she has every right to. The only problem with adhering to the beauty standards is expecting EVERY woman to do it. A woman shouldn’t be expected to shave or straighten her hair or wear makeup just because she’s a woman– but if she wants to, it is HER choice and she should never be shamed for it.
Resorting to name-calling and to degrading one of the most brilliant minds of the decade by commenting on her looks rather than her political prowess is about as childish as it gets.
In short, Wendy Davis has every right to be as beautiful and feminine as she wants. This does not detract from her feminism or being a superhero. The two are very unrelated. Feminism isn’t about looking like a lumberjack in order to dismantle the patriarchy. It’s about being allowed to choose how one looks (or, at least, a VERY tiny part of feminism is) and that is exactly what Sen. Davis has done.
Shaming her for it will change nothing, because her looks do not have anything to do with who she is and what she stands for.

  • Helen Balcony (@CastIronBalcony)  On July 3, 2013 at 4:51 am

  • Andrew  On July 3, 2013 at 12:17 am

The fact she still has the mole on her face is probably proof she’s never been under the knife. She probably just has good genes and more importantly she undoubtedly takes good care of herself. I know she runs regularly and she probably eats a healthy diet. I think she is stunning. I’m totally infatuated. The mole adds to her overwhelming charm.

  • James Deen  On July 2, 2013 at 11:14 pm

  • Lori Scarmardo  On July 2, 2013 at 7:49 pm

So she lightened her hair & bought a flat iron? And your point is??? She still looks like the same person to me. And it takes a real jackass to say she’s more attractive now than she was then. The woman in the old photos is an attractive woman, as is the woman in the current photos. Just different hair. As a licensed cosmetologist, I can appreciate that. Most women update their look over the years. We tend to get bored after a few decades.

But the real question is…. just what the hell does any of this have to do with her qualifications as a Texas State Senator? Or is your life just really that dull & boring?

  • Chuckles  On July 2, 2013 at 7:40 pm

2 burning questions about Ms. Davis:

    1) Are her boobs natural?

    2) What’s with the dang wart?

    • Lori Scarmardo  On July 2, 2013 at 7:50 pm

It’s a mole, not a wart. People have them. Is a blemish free face a prerequisite for politicians these days?

      • Chuckles  On July 2, 2013 at 7:54 pm

That’s not just a “mole,” that’s an aardvark. What’s the point of all the beautification and pretending as if that thing isn’t even there? It draws all the attention away from her boobies and her blonde hair.

  • JeanLouise  On July 2, 2013 at 5:21 pm

Wow, a woman learns to do her hair and makeup and loses a few pounds and y’all think she’s a pod person. Here’s the reality check, Bubba. People with money eat healthier and have the means to have their hair professionally cut and colored. They stop wearing Maybelline and get some good makeup and, maybe, take a lesson on how to apply it. I’m a stone-cold feminist and have done all of the above as I clawed my way through college and a career in a male-dominated profession..

Now, let’s get to the real problem. Wendy Davis kicked your ass and you can’t stand it. She doesn’t fit your image of a feminist but she is. And she didn’t need a man to achieve personal and professional success. She got pregnant but she didn’t stay in the kitchen. She escaped the life of dependency that anti-abortion freaks want to force women into. It’s so hypocritical. You carry on about Democrats wanting to keep people dependent the government but men like you just want to keep women dependent on them. So, no matter how badly you treat them, how often you beat them or try to control them, they’re at your mercy. If they make as much money as you do, they can leave and buy their own homes. They can hire just as good a divorce lawyer as you can. They can provide for their children. That’s way all this frenzied anti-abortion rhetoric is about. Not one of you gives a damn about children because you don’t care about women. But keep it up, boys. It’s your last hurrah. A lot of women have already learned that they can survive without bad men. That’s going to leave a lot of you assholes glued to your computers and relying on your hand.

  • NOYB  On July 2, 2013 at 3:42 pm

This is really funny! Well, first, I don’t see any pix of her chest when she was young, so have no idea what you are talking about. Second, her facial features are obviously unchanged except for having aged a bit. Her hair is obviously VERY different and a vast improvement. I’m pretty sure the party of Mitt Romney and Texas Governor Goodhair don’t have any problem with that. Let a life!

  • Bert Woodall  On July 2, 2013 at 3:42 pm

Let’s be charitable. It’s nice to see than an emotionally stunted and apparently sexually insecure male has finally noticed that most women look better at 50 than they did at 21. Don’t know how this relates to politics, the repression of women or feminism (even the cartoon version), but an epic fail like this blog is always funny.

  • Derek  On July 2, 2013 at 3:33 pm

Wow!!! You really did it!! You exposed this woman for being what she really is: A NORMAL WOMAN JUST LIKE ANY OTHER. The fact that someone would have to make such a stretch to try and slander and bring down this woman is a testament to the good work she’s doing…and to how lame people like the starter of this blog is.

So, the point is, men age really well, and women never do, but, this one woman may have and it is suspicious. It is suspicious because she is a “feminist” because she sometimes dresses in a “feminine way” and she has breasts and fixes her hair? Did I understand the post. I think I understand it very well. In fact, I learned far more about the author, than Senator Davis.

  • Laura  On July 2, 2013 at 1:59 pm

Mostly, it looks like she got a better bra, a better hairstylist, and learned how to do her makeup…

What’s really insulting is your focus on her looks. As if whether she is “frumpy” or “pretty” has any impact on her accomplishments. And the implication that if someone dyes their hair or even has a nose job, they somehow can’t possibly be an authentic advocate for battered women is not just an insult to Ms. Davis – but to women everywhere.

Feminism, sir, is about having the freedom to be a woman on our own terms.

  • Adam Larson  On July 2, 2013 at 1:58 pm

  • Chris Cain  On July 2, 2013 at 1:44 pm

Despite the “handicap” of being male, I have always worked to empathize with others….particularly women. Why? Because women know all too well that the world (not JUST the average male in said world) judges their worthiness by how they look. Its not fair, I know, but this concept is there none the less.

I have always believed that women face a three-way vise over their “looks” whenever they venture out into the world for whatever reason that they must. First, they have to deal with how they themselves judge how they look, then how OTHER women think of how they look, and last but not least, how MEN think about how they look. This is true for the woman working as a clerk at a convenience store, or a female Texas state senator on an 11 hour filibuster to defeat a draconian “poison pill” bill designed to circumvent women’s reproductive rights.

So, as others have pointed out, these suspicious, anonymous comments about how Ms. Davis has “conjured up” a better version of how she looks are small and mean-spirited, and contain ulterior motives.

Good men everywhere will recognize this nonsense for what it is, right down to the cowardly, anonymous way these comments were made.

Most of us who haven’t lived a sheltered life, or routinely engage in “public debate” DO have another phrase for this type of behavior…

    That phrase is chicken-shit.

Actually, it looks like she used some diet, exercise, sun exposure (that she’ll pay the price for in a few years) common over-the-counter products like a flat iron and bleach, and bought more stylish, flattering clothes to “transform” herself.

There’s not really anything to compare her to the “Human Barbie Doll” links you included, but I guess we can guess how you spend your time when you’re not slagging women who have worked hard to improve their lives and the lives of people they care about.

      That’s “whoever”.

      • Jeanette  On July 2, 2013 at 2:02 pm

No, it is ‘whomever.’ Look it up.

      • bill b  On July 2, 2013 at 2:56 pm

“Whoever” is correct. “Whomever” is a form of the third person objective pronoun. The word is used in the nominative case as the subject of the sentence, therefore needs to be the correct form of the third person nominative; in this case, “whoever.” Having said that, the OP’s sentiment is correct. They are a fucking idiot.

At least, she has the guts to stand up and be seen for what she believes in. Unlike a certain blogger who is unknown. Why don’t you have the guts to stand up for what you believe in? Are you afraid that people might find out who you are? You are a coward!

  • Christian Salafia  On July 2, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Your internet access should be “read only” as with this blog you’ve proven yourself too stupid to be in public unsupervised.

    Get a life.

  • JustMe  On July 2, 2013 at 12:43 pm

Those pictures and the transition remind me much of Tina Fey, who was kind of awkward and frumpy with frizzy hair in her early 20s but became stunningly attractive into her 30s and 40s.

Eat right, get lots of exercise, get the number of a good hair stylist, and you’ll look good into middle age, as well.

  • Dave  On July 2, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Gee I don’t look like I did thirty years ago and would like to think I look better now than I used to, but really, if you have a point, what is it? Or are you just a moron posing as an intellectual? How bad do you repugs need to get before the rest of us call you on your games?

  • Keith  On July 2, 2013 at 12:02 pm

She has the same nose, eyes, and chin as she had before. And the same mole. I don’t know how the imbecile who authored this post can tell how big her chest was in the past. If she got plastic surgery, I see no evidence of it. Not that there’s anything wrong with plastic surgery. All I see is a woman with a much more flattering hairstyle.

  • John Kelly  On July 2, 2013 at 11:01 am

Good God, I am shocked — shocked! — to learn that these public figures have enhanced their appearance. Is nothing sacred? Doesn’t Senator Davis know that feminist dogma requires her to be undyed, unshaven, free of makeup, and at least twenty pounds overweight?
You have opened my eyes. I will never believe another word Senator Davis says, but will instead wholeheartedly swallow whatever pseudo-Christian greed-is-good misogynist claptrap Governor Perry spews. His head may be empty but at least he hasn’t dyed his hair.

  • g  On July 2, 2013 at 9:31 am

Oh! My! GOD!!!!!! You mean she got her hair done!!!!!! And then she SMILED!!!??? THE HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!! True patriots are forever grateful to your diligent, um, truth telling about this, um, scandalous, horrible, no good threat to our very way of life!

I would have previously said it was impossible, but now I’m sure you can be even more, whiny, petty, asinine, ridiculous and just plain stupid, if you rilly, rilly try. How, exactly, you might accomplish this boggles the mind of those of us the triple digit club, but this post gives us all great confidence in your ability to crank out endless runny brown streams of USDA Grade AAA pure, unadulterated STUPID.

One question remains; How stupid must one be before an idiotic, immature and just plain ridiculous personal attack like this seems something other than STUPID? Is fork in the face stupid sufficient? Or must on be full blown, rock hard, super dense singularity-type stupid? Without your help those of us in the triple digit club will never know the answer to this important question. Thanking you in advance…

I assume this is satire. Right?

    • realwendydavis  On July 1, 2013 at 7:10 pm

Astute question. Do you mean satire of Davis, or satire of society’s obsession with the personal appearance of politicians? Might a more accurate term be parody, that is, a mocking of the practice of attacking politicians, particularly women politicians, based on their appearance by carrying out the practice in an exaggerated, humorous form constructed so as to be extremely vulnerable to counterattack? Of course, parody and satire are not incompatible concepts.

      • dave™©  On July 2, 2013 at 12:13 pm

No, we’re thinking satire of the complete and total stupdity of wingnut morons.

  • beb  On July 1, 2013 at 6:10 pm

not a fan of her but this post is ridiculous. A lot of people become more sophisticated about their personal grooming as they get older. The insinuation that this is all about plastic surgery is silly and I’m frankly disappointed that Instapundit linked to this. Jeesh, it looks like everybody is giving up on actual political debate.

  • lol  On July 1, 2013 at 5:50 pm

I love it when sanctimonious assholes defending legislation that conflicts with a woman’s right to her own body try to pretend a woman that stands up for women can’t be appreciated by women anymore because she dyed her damn hair. seriously if this is all you have then stay home

  • bean  On July 1, 2013 at 5:38 pm

It’s all about the hair. There are many reasons to not agree with her stance on murdering babies being a big positive, but really to go after her *blondness* is kind of beside the point. BUT I guess we do go after Biden’s hair plugs (but not enough IMHO)

  • moseszd  On July 1, 2013 at 3:50 pm

Maybe you should stop hanging out with trailer-park trash and meet some successful women. Because she’s nothing special in the 50-year-old professional woman who takes reasonable care of herself category.

She’s got more and deeper wrinkles by the eyes (crowsfeet) and her bags are bigger, deeper and there are more wrinkles.. Her skin is clearly losing elasticity. She’s starting to get irregular pigmentation issues. Her nose is the same. She has the same mole. Where ever you see skin, there’s clearly aging going on.

I think, over-all, her aging is very similar to that of my 53-year-old wife. There are some differences, but they’re not terribly significant.

In fact, all I can see she’s ‘done’ is drop 1980s frizzy perm or has relaxed her hair and started dying her hair blond.

  • Allen  On July 1, 2013 at 3:24 pm

I despise what this woman stands for but you’re really going to go after her for her looks? For starters, it means nothing, and besides that a LOT of women look better as they age. You’ve never been to a reunion and seen how all the beauty queens went sharply downhill while many of the plain looking girls are now hotties? Look at the other side of the political spectrum for a perfect example. Ever see a picture of Sarah Palin from high school? Chunky and homely, and yet now she’s smoking.

    • moseszd  On July 1, 2013 at 3:56 pm

Class of ’79. And let me tell you, that is the truth. The prom queen started a catering business and is pushing the scales way over 300lbs. The cheerleader I dated is enormous. Many of the jocks are now fat slobs.

And yet many of us improved, or at least took pride in ourselves, and kept things together. I weigh the same today as I did in HS (182lbs). Don’t have all my hair anymore so all the ‘long fethered-back’ hair so popular in the late 70’s is just a memory. But I can still fit into the same pants and shirts…

And so can many of my friends. We haven’t all given up and sunk into muffin tops or out-right obesity. We eat right, stay active and enjoy our lives.

  • merl  On July 1, 2013 at 3:20 pm

southern women’t faces look like cured tobacco.

    • Infantization (@infantization)  On July 1, 2013 at 3:26 pm

Sure son, keep telling yourself that. I have lived in both the north and the south and you get 2 equal looking women. The one in the south will look 10x better because she will dress nicer, put on makeup and do her hair. The northern woman will not shave her legs, throw on sweatpants and hair in a pony tail. I hate the malls in the NE, the women look like Hippies who don’t shower.

      • Alan  On July 1, 2013 at 5:26 pm

That is absolutely correct. When I moved South I noticed that the women down here won’t leave the house until they look right, God bless them. Up North the women are, relatively, slobs.

      • jerry andrade  On July 1, 2013 at 9:23 pm

It’s becoming pretty clear to me, infant, that you keep a stack of ViewMaster stereotypes on your bedside table. I’m sure it helps you cope with the real world, but the rest of us prefer the actual 3D version of the universe.

As for “Alan,” he sounds like the guy who writes off every woman who rejects him as a lesbian.

      • Peter Principle  On July 1, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Actually, most of the women in the Deep South won’t leave the house until the doorway is widened and the “WIDE LOAD” banner is in place. Witness, witless…

Of course, since she was a single mother attending Harvard Law, she may not have had the money, time or priority to make herself look great all the time. And, she unfortunately lived in and had her photo taken in 1991. And, anyone would care what Glenn Reynolds looks or looked like, for what reason? See, males vs. females is what is known as apples and oranges. I would think a more appropriate comparison would be Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann

  • SweetT  On July 1, 2013 at 1:28 pm

Hello – feminist here. I do not give a fuck what women do to their bodies. Peace, assholes! Do you expect people that admire Davis’s courage and outspokenness to just change their minds b/c she doesn’t do her hair the same way she did 20 years ago? Fuck, 20 years ago I shaved my head.

  • mel  On July 1, 2013 at 1:23 pm

Way to uphold the patriarchal value of determining a woman’s worth based upon her looks. Shallow, sexist and disgusting. If this is what “political discourse” has come to, this country deserves to be flushed down the toilet. You should be ashamed.

    • Infantization (@infantization)  On July 1, 2013 at 3:21 pm

HAHAHA I love feminists! Their irony alert function is non-existent. I can never take anyone seriously who actually uses the word “patriarchal” outside of Berkley. We are not judging her “worth” based on her looks we are judging her looks… Now grow up and stop being a little Beta male.

      • Seriously  On July 2, 2013 at 10:18 am

It’s really naive to not understand how much of “feminine beauty” as our society defines it can easily be constructed with make up, hair, clothes, good stylists etc. People are saying she looks so different when this is literally the plot of a hundred stupid shitty movies.

If she were ugly she’d get shit for being ugly. She has made herself look good because that’s how she’ll get elected. Sexism has essentially:

        1. Made it necessary for a woman to spend time on her looks to get respect and votes.

        2. Then calls her a monster for working within the sexist system.

She literally cannot win. So what do you want? Oh that’s right, you want her to be silent because she’s a woman. How about you just jump off a cliff.

What’s so wrong with wanting to look nice? It may not have been important at Harvard Law in 1991 but, trust me, I’ve lived in Fort Worth for over 20 years and looking good is important for women here no matter what their political affiliation. And, that’s a good thing for us guys by the way.
